When it comes to designing the look and feel of your home, choosing between wallpaper and paint can feel like a major decision. Both options offer unique advantages, but wallpaper brings a distinct set of benefits that, quite frankly, paint could never.
Visual Interest
If you’re going for something stand-out, wallpaper is always the way. Obviously, you have bolder, more exciting options to choose from when it comes to adding wallpaper (especially ours!), but even if you are going for a minimalist look and think you want paint to keep it all feeling clean, you’re missing out on the visual interest aspect of the room. Wallpaper adds depth and dimension that pull the room together, even in the most minimalistic ways, that when considering the paint alternative, paint simply feels sterile.
Adds Depth
Wallpaper not only introduces color and pattern but also adds texture and depth to a room. Textured wallpapers can mimic natural materials like grasscloth, linen, or your favorite haute couture fabric, creating visual interest and tactile appeal that paint alone doesn’t achieve. This depth can enhance the ambiance of a space, making it feel more luxurious and cozy depending on the chosen design.
Conceals Imperfections
Another practical advantage of wallpaper is its ability to conceal imperfections on walls. Uneven surfaces, cracks, or minor damages can be masked effectively with wallpaper, providing a smooth and flawless appearance. In contrast, paint may highlight imperfections or require extensive preparation to achieve a flawless finish. Yikes!
Added Durability
Quality wallpaper is durable and can maintain its appearance for many years with proper care. Unlike paint, which may require touch-ups or repainting over time, wallpaper can withstand wear and tear better, making it a cost-effective investment in the long run. Additionally, some wallpapers, like ours, are washable, allowing for easy maintenance and longevity of the design.
Memorability
Realtors will tell you, whether their clients like wallpaper or not, that having a bold-patterned wallpapered room makes your house one to remember and sells homes quicker than those without wallpaper. WHAT?! No, for real. It’s true. This is our favorite fun fact of the week, because the stats show it defies what we previously thought we knew. If you think about it though, if you’re looking at house after house and they all have the same Super White or Millenial Grey paint and then one comes along with some crazy powder room, one house is memorable and the rest all blend together.
Obviously, we’re all for going the wallpaper route. Reach out when you’re ready. We cannot wait to see what pattern you choose!
